I'm trying to install the pstricks file for dvips.. it's only about
15k, but there's no room in the sipb locker.
Why are you installing it there, when it's already installed in the
tex-contrib locker? It seems to me that it would be far more
efficient to explain to people how to use that locker in addition to
the stuff in the sipb locker, rather than having two copies of
everything.
So, what I'm going to do is make a sipb-cruft locker that these things
can point to. This means they won't be backed up, and if the locker
goes down, they become unavailable.
I hope you haven't done this already. A decision this significant
needs to be discussed by the SIPB as a whole before deployment.
(I seem to recall that one of the things that came out of the last
discussion of this is that before deleting anything or changing the
availability of anything in the sipb locker, we need to do some sort
of usage logging to find out which programs are actually being used
the most. Someone volunteered to do this, I believe, but I don't know
if it ever happened. It is inappropriate, I think, to make decisions
about what is or is not "important" without first actually trying to
determine what people are using.)
(Another thing -- we could save a lot of space by deleting all the
tex/latex files in the sipb locker which are also in the Athena
release. There are a lot of font files and macros that simply don't
need to be in the sipb locker. It seems to me that this is a step
that should be taken *before* any moving around of binaries.)
