Calvin has explained to me that when he relinked the programs in the
locker, the x11r5 locker was still down. I had gotten the impression
from his mail messages ("A few users complained because xrn and
xscreensaver were unavailable for sometime today on the RS/6000s: the
programs were linked the shared libraries in the x11r5 locker, which
were unavailable because pollux was down.") that the problem had been
resolved when he did the relinking.
In light of his clarification, I think his actions were certainly
appropriate, and I take back my earlier "irkedness" :-)
