anything linked against /usr/athena/lib/shared will break with the next
rios release. (it was intentionally made hard to link against there,
since I had not been able to properly address the issue of shared
libraries in the first pass, and the next version of the Athena release
has an incompatible set - not that it matters too much, since it will be
AIX 3.2)
