I don't think there's any BITNET connection to any of the hosts in the
UNIV.TRIESTE.IT domain. It is possible, though, that someone might
have an account on a nearby BITNET node, such as ITSICTP at the
International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, even though
their preferred e-mail address ends with "UNIV.TRIESTE.IT".

In any case, there is no way that bwrite or bfinger would work with a
domain name of the form you have. You would need to find out the name
of the BITNET node. As the man pages for bwrite and bfinger indicate,
this name will always have 8 or fewer characters, and contain no
periods.
