Does anyone see any need for the project.sipbsrc.readonly volume? This
is a huge volume on rosebud a (107 Mb), which was last updated on
September 11, 1991 (i.e., over a year ago). If we get rid of this, we
can more than double the available space in the sipb cell.
This has been brought up before (Spring '91 -- see [0418] and [0456]
in SIPB-AFS-requests), but it seems the issue was probably dropped
once we got the 1.6 Gb of extra space on rosebud last September.
(Unless there are more obscure mountpoints I haven't found, access to
this would involve referencing /afs/sipb/project/sipbsrc/RONLY/.)
Incidentally, we also have 24 other RO volumes that haven't been
updated in over a year. Most of these are the ones copied from
ronald-ann e to ronald-ann d (back when it was ronald-ann f), because
the e drive was once thought to be unreliable. Again, this has all
been discussed before (see [0407], [0414], [0416], and [0428] in
SIPB-AFS-requests).
I'd suggest getting rid of most all of the obsolete RO volumes, since:
-- we have weekly tape backups of the RW (BK) volume contents,
stored both in the office and with IS Dispatch (Building 11)
-- the RO copies aren't being updated, at all
-- we haven't noticed problems with ronald-ann e recently
-- we need disk space for other projects (somewhere around 50-100
Mb could be freed up, depending on whether a few RO's are kept)
