I have just installed the program "ytalk" in the sipb locker. It is a
multi-user talk program that can communicate with most versions of
UNIX talk, which means that problems we've had in the past with people
not being able to "talk" to other sites may now be avoidable by using
"ytalk" to initiate or respond to the talk request, rather than using
"talk" or "talk.old".
The multi-user stuff is a little bit shaky. It does need some work,
but I think that the program is worth installing just because of its
ability to talk to different talk daemons.
The stock answer about trouble with "talk" should be updated to
mention this program.
