So, mutt crashes when I try to delete more than ~1000 messages from
my spamscreen folder. Since it has about 94,000 messages in it right now,
that's pretty unmanageable.

I've been "forced" to use pine for it.

Does anyone know what the story is on these crashes and what
the development status is of mutt's imap code? Is it worth
my trying to furnish a decent bug report to the mutt developers?
Is it a cyrus problem? etc.
