Hello,
In the past few weeks, AOL disabled the TOC protocol used by tik, tac,
and some other third-party AIM clients, causing at least one question to
sipb@mit.edu, and probably even more user confusion.
Given that tik and tac (the AOL one that is), are installed in the sipb
locker, maybe it's worth it to replace them with wrapper scripts
suggesting that gaim or owl be used instead?
I replaced the im locker version of these programs (installed as
tac-0.90 and tik-0.17 respectively) with appropriate wrapper scripts,
viewable at:
/mit/im/arch/share/bin/{tac-0.90,tik-0.17}
If no one has any objections, I'll replace the sipb locker tik and tac
with these wrapper scripts by Sunday or Monday.
Arun
