Hello, illustrious members of that all-computer-knowledge-encompassing
group which is interested in fixing, or hearing about, or even ignoring
bugs dealing with problems of the locker owned by the group which goes
under the subtle pseudonym SIPB...

Okay, a user in OLC asked the following question:

> When I try to subscribe to the news group "soc.culture.indian", I get
> the fong m essage "caught signal (10), cleaned up newsrc and removed
> temp file". Then i get 2 options abort or exit. No matter which option i
> choose the program exits xrn. When I told olc about this problem, I was
> told that there was a bug and I should contact
> "bug-sipb@athena.mit.edu". I have sent them 2 email messages describing
> my problem (the first one on saturday). However they have neither.

Since I was on-duty and answering questions, I got around to taking a
look at this question and discovered the following:

> Funny, in xrn I had no problem subscribing to it at all...
> It's when you try to READ it that you get the problem -- it takes
> approximately 4 minutes thinking, and then gives:
>
> "Caught signal (10), cleaned up .newsrc and removed temp files"
> abort exit
>
> The two above are buttons... Abort gives a bus error.

Then I thought about "Catch Up"'ing the newsgroup and did so fine, the
returned to the newsgroup and started reading backwards from the last
article. The bug re-appeared at:

+ 50748 India Alert Bulletin-3 (EPW editorial) [63] budaraju@chewi.che.w

So I'd say the problem is probably a badly formatted article 50748 on
bloom-picayune...

Anyone got any ideas about this at all, am I off-base; if not, will it
be fixed?
