Try running the command "term download" on the PAD before connecting
to the Athena dialup servers. This will cause the PAD to ignore the
terminal escape sequence (C-^ x); the fact that it interprets this
sequence in a special way may be what is causing the uploads to fail.
Note, however, that if you run this command, you will not be able to
get back to the PAD prompt after you have connected to Athena (until
you log out of Athena); this is a minor problem unless you customarily
connect to multiple hosts from the PAD.
