From: bmwu@ATHENA.MIT.EDU To: bug-sipb@ATHENA.MIT.EDU Date: Tue, 25 Dec 90 14:51:16 EST Hi: We have a Mac IIci at the E25-141 Athena (HST) cluster hooked up to the MIT ethernet. It's host name is qunidine.mit.edu and its IP address is 18.88.0.224. I am running Mac TCP on it. Recently, I got a Netnews reading program. I configure it so that it uses Bloom-beacon.mit.edu as its NNTP server. However, when I run this news-reading program, I got the message "the news server is not responding." so, I wonder if I need to have someone authorize my machine to use Bloom-beacon as the news server. If so, I wonder what does it take to get our machine authorized. The purpose of setting up the Netnews program on the Mac is for the people without an Athena account to be able to access Usenet. thanks for your help. Best regards, Benson M. Wu bmwu@athena.mit.edu
