XRN truncates .newsrc and .oldnewsrc if home locker not correctly mapped

Program: XRN on rt, athena 7.1H
Problem: I logged in and ran xrn. Unknown to me at the time, athena
had not properly mapped my locker, so that quota -v didn't show a quota
value for me. The first time I ran xrn, it said some to the effect of:
Cannot parse .newsrc file on line 1
When I examined the .newsrc file, it had been blanked and contained one
empty line. The .oldnewsrc file also contained one empty line.
I then deleted both files, and reran xrn, where it said:
Creating a newsrc (/mit/warsh/.newsrc) file for you
Cannot create a newsrc file (/mit/warsh/.newsrc): Disc quota exceeded
xrn: Can not read the .newsrc file
Which is correct. Upon re-authenticating my locker using attach (athena
sucks!) xrn then correctly offered to make a new .newsrc and go through
the initial subscription process. It shouldn't have crunched my files
the first time, though.
