This message is silly, since it (apparently) is not displayed until
after this attempt has completed (and either succeeded or failed).
Would it not make more sense to say "reconnected" or "reconnection
failed"?
Well, I've forwarded this to the author, but I'm not sure you're
correct.
First of all, I'm not sure when the message is first displayed -- if
it's displayed immediately when the program realizes that the server
connection has been severed, before it actually tries to reconnect,
then it's correct.
In fact, I think that's what happens, so I'm not sure what you're
suggesting.
