Because we don't have a 5.5T compiler to build with in the office, nor
do we have a machine to reliably rlogin to in order to do builds.
Proposal(a): Until 6.0RT goes into the field, we set up a 5.5 compiler on
snork. This is only necessary for programs which use floating point
(discuss doesn't have the problem, but xdvi does, and I am sure there
are others.)
Proposal(b): We find an RT somewhere that is secure/stable enough to
do our builds (one in a public cluster is *NOT* acceptable...)
Proposal(c): Somebody with time to do a long, slow build over NFS over
two gateways go somewhere and do the build.
Presumably, noone who is thesing/trying to graduate will have *ANY*
time in the next two weeks. (If they claim to, yell at them and make
them finish their thesis.)
It is important to note that once the APC's arrive, this is a moot
point (the APC *requires* the 6.0 release, and thus will be
compatible.)
