On July 27 I tried to use idraw, which I have used before
in the past with no problem (but it wasn't recently, sometime in
the spring term). I was unable to figure out how to properly name
and save a drawing - everything I did was denied. I seem to
remember something about having to change directories from sipb to
youncer, but I couldn't do it. Can you give me some help on this?
I'd like to be able to use it, but I can't print out a drawing
without saving it first and I couldn't save it.
You should have no problem creating and saving files from idraw if you
do the following:
1. DON'T cd out of your home directory before running it. If "pwd"
doesn't print "/mit/youncer" right before you're about to run
idraw, then type "cd" before you run it.
2. DON'T cd into the sipb locker before running it. You shouldn't
have to. In order to prepare to use it, you should type "add
sipb", and then you should just be able to type "idraw" to run it.
If that doesn't work, try doing "rehash" and then type "idraw"
again.
3. When you want to save a file for the first time out of idraw,
select the "Save As" option on the "File" menu, type the filename,
and click on open. If it gives you an error, then backspace over
the entire filename (including the "./" that's there when the
prompt window pops up) and type "/mit/youncer/filename".
4. If that doesn't work either, then you're probably having some
trouble writing to your home directory, and you should talk to
the Project Athena consultants about that.
If you're still having trouble even with these directions, your best
bet is to stop by the sipb office (w20-557) or the Athena consulting
office (11-115) and get help in person.
