You're welcome to leave it untarred, but only use it for

That doesn't cause it to die for me and I don't know that section of
the code, so I'm not up for groveling the code without a reproducible
test case. You can send a bug report upstream if you like; I don't think
there's anything I or anyone else on bug-sipb can do.
