Tom,
The xscreensaver is slow only on 5.5T workstations, for the
same reason that xclock is slow---the routine to convert the time to a
human-readable form still thinks that it is standard time. This will
be corrected ``magically'' when the workstations change over to
daylight savings time (this Sunday, perhaps, I don't remember
exactly).
