Hello Wei,
When you say you have a Chinese interface, do you mean that your
menu's are in Chinese, or are you receiving and sending IM's in
Chinese?
My first guess is that the program can't find any Chinese true type
fonts on the system. The following command will run gaim using
standard X fonts, and _might_ fix the problem.
env GDK_USE_XFT=0 athrun im gaim &
Let me know if this fixes your problem on Sun workstations.
