using yahoo IM with gaim?

Hi,
I tried to use gaim with yahoo instant messenger as well as with AIM, and I
tried to follow these directions, but when I start gaim, there's no way to click
on plugins, and when I go into the preferences, there aren't any plugins about
yahoo. I tried to add a yahoo account, but it doesn't look like I'm logged into it.

In order to use all the different protocols, at the startup screen,
you need to click on plugins, click on load, and change directory
to /mit/im/lib/gaim . To add a plugin, load one of the files with
a filename ending with .so in that directory. Then, you can click
on accounts and add any ICQ, AIM, MSN messenger, etc accounts that
you've used in the past.
