Hi Laura,
Gaim should work on Athena 9.4 suns now. (FTR, I wrote a wrapper
script which added /mit/gtk_v2.0/lib, which contains libintl.so.2 to the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH before running gaim.real) . Testing on kamp-krusty, it
seems to work, but as I haven't tested this locally, I can't be certain.
Let us know if this fixes things, or if you run into other weird issues
only on Athena 9.4 suns.
