Alex,

I don't know of a reason not to, and I can do the testing. I've been
running master daily since
2026-11-01: I build it as a Debian 13 package in CI (source and binary,
https://forgejo.mit.edu/djbclark/barnowl-debian, now
1.11~git20250813.1f65aee-5), with a smoke test
of a real client, and use it on Athena Zephyr. Logging, zwrite,
subscriptions and the Perl modules
work. A release would also give Debian (1.10-2 in every suite, bullseye to
sid) something to package
with the logging fix.

What I (in a loose def of that word) found while doing that is in pull
requests, each one commit with CI:

https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/190 six small bugs in master
(logging thread context,
                                               zephyr_zwrite -m,
word-motion keys, logging variables)
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/191 getopt_long return value on
unsigned-char arches (arm64)
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/192 owl_text_wordwrap counts
columns, not bytes
https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/193 escape @ in header fields
chosen by the sender
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/195 show bidi overrides and
other invisible characters
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/194 optional wrapping of
over-wide lines (off by default)
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/196 show newlines in header
fields (fake header lines)
https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/197 humanize shows DEL as ^? (it
compared with 255)
  https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/198 the basic style inherits
from default (it had no
                                               format_message)
https://github.com/barnowl/barnowl/pull/199 boldify no longer leaves a
stray ")" when the text has
                                               all four closers

190 and 191 fix real bugs and would be good to have in 1.11; the others can
wait. 191 matters most:
without it BarnOwl exits with its usage message at startup wherever char is
unsigned (arm64, armhf,
ppc64el, s390x, riscv64). I reproduced that with Debian's own 1.10-2 on
trixie arm64
(https://github.com/djbclark/barnowl/actions/runs/41559344608) and have
reported it to Debian.

I'm glad to test a release candidate tarball, draft release notes from the
73 commits since 1.10, and
update the Debian side.
