Hello again,

One correction to my message of 2026-11-01, after reading upstream master:

The bug is in the 1.10 release only. Master replaced the C logger with
Perl code (perl/lib/BarnOwl/Logging.pm), and its sanitize_filename is
applied to every log file name, CC names included (log_filenames, then
get_filenames). So master is not affected, and no release has the fix.
I had not checked master when I wrote the first message. I did not
check releases before 1.10.

That makes a 1.10.1 release the natural fix for the 1.10 line: either
backport the Perl logging, or use the small patch in my first message
(the sender-name rules applied to every CC name in both loops of
logging.c). Debian ships 1.10-2, so a point release would also give
Debian something to take.

The temporary workaround for users in my first message stands (set
logging off, or loggingdirection out; the second is untested).
