Hi all,
Hot on the heels of the linerva downtime (or even slightly before?),
there is a new barnowl-beta build available. This build fixes a number
of serious bugs found in the previous build, so we thought it would be
good to roll out a new one. Also the linerva downtime was convenient.
I encourage you to test this build by running 'barnowl-beta' from the
barnowl locker.
Changes since the previous barnowl-beta:
* Fix an issue where, when your style returns a string without a
trailing newline, we wrote one character past the end of the
string. Depending on allocation sizes, this may stomp over malloc's
internal structures.
* Plug some minor memory leaks in AIM narrowing and unknown ztext @
commands.
* Fix SIGWINCH-handling on Solaris. Resizing your terminal should work
correctly now.
* Don't spin CPU when connecting to AIM. The previous beta incorrectly
registered main loop sources and constantly woke up whenever you had
an AIM connection open.
* Work around an ncurses bug that causes color-pair issues in
ext-color-enabled builds. The previous email was inaccurate in that
we actually bundle an ncurses ABI 6 build on most architectures
(with i386_deb50 and i386_ubuntu910 missed likely as an
oversight). The fix has been accepted upstream. We hope to have an
updated ncurses locker build by the final 1.8 release and take
advantage of ext-colors.
In the meantime, as in previous releases, BarnOwl cannot display
more than 256 distinct color pairs at a time, but fallback should be
consistent across all builds now. In particular, pair allocations
are reset when running out, so the effect is not cumulative.
Share and enjoy.
