W20-454 is cleaned out to the satisfaction of the ASA, CAC/DSL, and
the DSL's Safety Officer. the ASA's space "czar" (my term not his)
seems to be aware of the way the room is used. Michael will
coordinate with the new group moving in & LSC, about their use of this
shared space.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the Safety Officer wants to give the silkscreeners & press ops some
brief training on safely using chemicals. the key thing seems to be
disposing of the solvent soaked rags/towels via MIT's outside vendor.

W20-415 was inspected.
the safety officer wants the steak fry charcoal stored better. i
trust that an active can handle this. we can continue to store the
charcoal lighting fluid in the solvents cabinet.
we have been promised a flammable cabinet for safer storage of the
press shop solvents (i have been trying to find a free one for a
while). WE MAY NEED SOME HANDS TO DO THE CABINET SWAP. flammable
cabinets are heavy.
the safety officer was OK with the press, especially after i
highlighted the safety training we give press trainees, & showed her
the cup demo (at the start of training a cup on a rope is crushed in
several places in the press. then the question is asked: "do you want
to really want to learn to print? it will unforgivingly crush your
hands." so far, no one has walked away.
as requested, i will work with Michael & the actives on both shops.
