You know, it may be a little sad that the first thing that came to mind
after the word "Cool!" was "Wait...1000 tons is *not* the same thing as
2200 pounds...."
Obviously (after a moment for me at least) they meant 1000 kg, and failed
to correct the order of magnitude when they went to tons.
2.7 x 1000kg/m^3 x (47x36x6/39.4^3) =3D 450 kg
for the slab alone.
Since a solid block of aluminum the size of the frame (47x36x27) would only
mass about 2000 kg, I'm guessing that 30% dense (~550 kg) is probably a
reasonable high-end estimate for the mass of the table.
Thus endeth the lesson in how slowly Charley's brain is functioning these
days. ;-)

Charley

GRANITE SLAB TABLE

We have a granite slab table (vendor: Rock of Ages) for reuse. The
table was originally used for high precision microscope. A large
granite slab (47 inch =C3=97 36 inch =C3=97 6 inch) is supported by a stron=
g
aluminum vibration isolation frame (47 inch =C3=97 36 inch =C3=97 27 inch).=
The
slab table is about 1000 tons (2200 pounds). A strong lift is needed
to move it.

The table can be picked up at 35-017.
