Hi all,

Rather than send a zillion emails, here's everything in one email, bulleted
for (hopefully) easy reading:

* I'm in the middle of a ridiculous forty page chapbook project. This means
I'll be in and around the shop a lot this summer and fall. *I am willing
and able to train actives*! Bring an idea of your own or I'll put you to
work on my silly project :-) I'll be in the shop at least a couple times a
month for the next while so *email if you want to schedule training.*

* I can't do qualifying runs (yet) but I'd like to sit in and observe some.
When you're scheduling qualifying runs with one of the other journeymen,
please cc me.

* Speaking of, I'm planning to work July 4-6. I don't want to monopolize
the shop though, so if you want to use the press too, let me know so we can
coordinate hours.

* I've purchased a deep relief base from Boxcar Press for using with
plates, because it is the easiest and lowest stress (for me) way of doing
the next couple of projects I have in mind. There is tons of info on
Boxcar's site (http://www.boxcarpress.com/letterpress-plates/) but the
upshot is, if you want to have cuts made, you can get the Boxcar KF152
plates and stick them to the base, and be guaranteed to have a flat,
type-high surface to print with. Please be gentle with the base! It cost
several hundred dollars, and I am happy to let the chapter make use of it,
but I don't want it damaged. It will appear in the shop over July 4th
weekend.

* Some of you may have noticed the new type in the cabinet next to the
stone. There's quite a lot of Caslon 337 12pt upright, and a little bit of
Caslon 337 12pt italic. This is monotype, freshly cast, in excellent
condition. There is enough of the upright to set a full 8.5x11 page of
dense text. Again, feel free to use it, but please be gentle with it, and
also, please distribute it as soon as you are done printing, as it's the
face I'm using my for my ridiculous forty page chapbook project.
