Hi Benazeer,

If anyone wants to buy Monotype cast fonts and donate them to the
Shop, that would be awesome.

I hadn't heard of Swamp Press, but there are many people who cast and
sell type on old Monotypes, Intertypes, etc. casters. Including a few
inside 495. The type is on a softer alloy, than foundry type - which
means it wears out sooner. Matter less for the APO Letterpress
Shop as relatively few impressions are done on a face.

The font family we have with the most wear is Garamond. I suspect the
Hotel used the font a lot.

All but the News Gothic Condensed in the APO Letterpress Shop (except
the 10 pt) was cast on Monotype (I believe) casters.

Does everyone know about Swamp Press? The owner has a monotype supercaster
and hundreds of matrices. His type catalog is impressive, to say the least,
and he does *not *charge hundreds of dollars per font. He charges $36 for
1000 pieces of type in 12pt (more for larger type, less for smaller type,
because obviously the cost of metal is proportional to font size). 1000
pieces isn't sufficient for, say, printing a *book*, but it's certainly
enough for business cards and invitations.

   His price list is here:
   http://www.swamppress.com/Price_Schemes42010.pdfand his type catalog
   is here:
   http://www.swamppress.com/Swamp%20Type%20Cat%2012-10.pdf. I'm purchasing
several fonts for him to use in the Vandercook at the Boston Paper
Collective, and spending far less than $100 for several full fonts
including all the characters that take accent marks in French and Spanish.
