Hello,

All the chatter about the Activities midway got me thinking about the
printshop, and I realized that in the entire time I was an active pressop,
we didn't get a single new cut made. I don't know if this is because of the
cost, or because the shop we used to get cuts made from closed, or because
we just didn't give ourselves enough lead time before a job to get cuts
made.

Anyway, I was shopping for woodblock supplies last weekend, and found a
source of linocut blocks that are close to letterpress high, and can be
shimmed to the correct height: I've spoken to another printmaker who has
successfully printed with these blocks in a tabletop platen press similar to
our baby press.

If there is a desire for new cuts for the presshop, I would be happy to
carve them as a service to the chapter. In order to produce a cut, I would
need a high-quality PDF of the image to be cut (preferably that requires no
resizing before printing) and about six weeks lead time. The PDF should not
be reversed. I can buy blocks up to 7"x9" in length and width.
