Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (hopp):
Projects this weekend, working with little kids and other options
Big Screw has booths Monday and Tuesday, probably Thursday and Friday, we
need to get Wednesday. Somebody should talk to the CAC
MVP (droshan):
Pledge Manualing
Bigs should go out to dinner with their littles
Will talk to pledges about projects
Having a pledge meeting next week
PC'ing is not scary, really!
FVP (zev):
Wants to figure out how to get better/more auction items
Alum donations are good, but sometimes not so great
Study break at 10! (yum, pi)
Can we order/make more letter shirts?
RMC (or something like that) does letter shirts (Mitch has mail from
AEPi)
If SFF not at the same time as phys plant day, Riv will PC it
Treasurer (huananz):
Not much going on
Getting new dot thing (for fridge)
laura47 wants the money for soda
We have two checks from bookex which want to be donated
AC ($yournamehere):
We really need one.
Asking Jo Tong
Also talking to Jess
Also talking to yoz
PubDir (riv):
New instructions for drop posters not done yet because PubDir is lame
Wants to sell old extra shirts
Big Screw shirt run?
Already doing Random hall run, can't do them in series
Maybe do both runs at once?
PubDir is hosed until Spring Break
Mitch might get greg to come visit
Still need new paint
APOcEd (kkbrown):
Is baking pies right now
Hopefully a new issue in the next couple weeks
Needs new articles "Oh please oh please oh please"
OM (ekate):
Historian (austein):
Pictures from Susan (MoS project)
Can't make photos of little kids public
Advisory Comm. Chair (ccrazy):
Pledge forms have been mailed
President (holmesmd):
Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Food:
Steakfry happened, lots of food
Sad that there wasn't more "organization"
The key is cooking for LARGE groups
hopp offered help, never taken
holmesmd talked to PCs several times, not sure what more they needed to
know
CPR:
Kendra was thinking of getting trained as a trainer
One of the pledges wants to do CPR for skill
Heartsafe event at Walker last weekend
Old Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nationals:
Half of the money returned from hotel room
Need to pay neboat and mitchb
New Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dues:
Pledge fees up to 25 from 20
Annual active membership dues (fall) at 25 up from 15
Initiation 35, no change
Chapter currently subsidizes initiation fee
Chapter dues higher than nationals, could keep our dues the same, but we
kind of need money
Small committee to figure out what we should do?
Reg Day doesn't bring in enough money alone
Finboard funding unreliable, mitchb and kchen asked for $1800 for techcash
and got nothing (even though they had extra money)
Can we find more projects that get paid? (like Reg Day)
Chapter didn't spend so much on food until recently (Jimbo didn't get
chapter funding for big taking him out to dinner as a pledge)
Might lose Reg Day funding in ~5 years if everything goes online
Riv organizing meeting to figure this stuff out
Conclave:
Athletics likes money, not likely to get sleeping space there
Porter room being asked about by Vinayak
Maybe 3rd floor of Walker?
Showers in Athletics, basement of Stata, 14?
Want to try long weekend, October better
Find out add vs drop dates
Women's 10k columbus day weekend
Parking?
Can be arranged, easy for weekends
Lot rental requires attendant payment
Most weekends lots are open for free
mitchb has contacts with former head of parking
Can get money in advance from section if we have a nice budget
Walker looks nice
Faculty club?
requires aramark
Funding subsidized by individual chapters
Their choice where to stay, pay for hotel if they can afford it
SLP has given grants to ILGs, we should check on that
They fight to give away money
Also might help with manpower
Fran Miles is really nice
Get last conclave budget from Ellen
Come up with greatest expenses
Banquet, Sleeping space, Souveniers, Glassware, Police detail/parking?,
DJ?, Registration material, mailings (with postage), and copying
What category of event do we register as?
Last time, it was an open-invite external event
We probably want it as a conference with an invite-only with dinner and
dance
Need to meet with them so they're clear exactly what this is
Talk to Section about number of people
Break-even pricing ~100, supplies for 150 people
Good idea to try advance registration
Not just banquet to deal with food. Also two breakfasts and a lunch
Not big enough to get bulk mail discount
EC has AV equipment
Burnout is always an issue, nationals is just as bad for everybody else in
the section
Make sure people actually want to be doing whatever it is they're doing
Better way of sending mailings to Alumni?
Neat project soon to test with?
