Hello,

I'd like to remind everyone that there is a blood drive, Monday
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, at MIT. All types of blood are
needed, but O+, O-, A_ and B- are in particularly high demand right
now. Please take the time to save a life this holiday season.

Subject: Blood Drive at MIT...12/11 - 12/13; t-shirt

Executive Summary: There will be a blood drive at MIT from Monday,
December 11, through Wednesday, December 13, in La Sala in the Student
Center. The drive will run from noon to 6pm on Monday, and Wednesday,
and from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday. Please use
http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/ to make an appointment for faster
service. All donors will receive a free t-shirt. The "Starve a
Mosquito" design from a couple of years ago will be available while
supplies last.

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who made our September
drive a success. We collected over 300 pints of blood. On behalf of
the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives.

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT from Monday,
December 11 through Wednesday, December 13, in La Sala in the Student
Center (W20). The drive will run from noon to 6pm on Monday, and
Wednesday, and from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday. By giving blood, or
volunteering your time at the blood drive, you can help save lives.

As the holiday season approaches, it is important to keep blood
supplies up. Please give the gift of life this season. Everyone who
donates or volunteers at the drive will receive a free t-shirt. The
"Starve a Mosquito" design from a couple of years ago (different that
the one from September) will be available while supplies last.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To
make an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Drink extra fluids before your donation. You can begin to drink extra
fluids the day before your donation. Water and juices are great, but
try to avoid a lot of caffeine.

  * In the United States, a blood transfusion is needed about every two
    seconds.

appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
