Hope you all had a nice spring break :-)
Here are Important upcoming events:
March 31, this Thursday: "people project" PC: Juliana
FUN! Easter-egg-painting party for the kids at Shriners Burn Hospital.
The party will start at 3 pm because the kids go to bed early.
There are 6 vacancies for party-attendees... SIGN UP in the office
(or leave a message on the machine or email, if you don't have a key?)
People who have class then can help shop or boil eggs the day before...
SIGN UP or contact Juliana.
April 2, this Saturday: possibly "painting project".
Cambridgeport Childrens Center. Details to follow. (Thanks Ping :-)
April 4-8, next week: "$ project" PC: Henning
BIG SCREW. (Spread the word. Explain it to any freshmen you know.)
This is a variant of the ugly-man-on-campus type of contest; the
candidates are MIT staff such as professors, housing administrators, etc.
We will need people to help set up the booth, work at the booth (during
free hours) throughout the week, count money at the end of every day,
and take down the booth at the end of the week. In addition, if you
think you know someone (e.g. a lecturer) who'd be willing to run, get
in touch with Henning and let him know. I have no doubt that the
wise and valiant ScrewComm will have a SIGN UP sheet posted real soon
now. (Right? :-)
April 9, Saturday: "munchkin project"
Help the APO chapter at BU run the annual Cub Scout Decathalon.
I forget what we get to do (judge? setup?) something fun, anyway.
Alternate munchkin project, closer to home and optionally of
shorter duration... the CPs are running a "Kid Care day" in the
Student Center lobby. (Making fingerprint/ vital information cards.)
There are four shifts bewteen 8:30 and 4. If you're interested, let
me know (or send mail to Sgt. Cheryl Vossmer directly at crimbite@mit.
yes, that's crime with no e.)
April 15-17, Patriots weekend: Chapter Weekend II PCs: lots.
The pledge project :-) which has unexpectedly mutated into the
sectional project. That means that you can meet brothers from other
chapters there. Yay. Destruction? Maybe? shrug.
A glimpse of more distant projects...
April 23 ... pledge term review meeting ...
April 30 Saturday project at Ruggles day care center (no PC yet)
May 8 "Beaver Day" camp cleanup project (no PC yet)
May 20-22 Afterfinals (Supposed to attract alumni & kids, but I don't
have a PC yet to work with the alumni contact.)
