Hi everyone. For the benefit of those who are going to the
project Monday (Boston Harbor Society Auction), I went on a
little exploratory mission to figure out exactly where it is.
After half an hour of wandering around the wharf (while the wind
valiantly tried to turn me into a popsicle), I found it---the
Boston Harbor Hotel. :)
The hotel is in the Rowe's Wharf building on Atlantic Avenue.
You may have seen it before; it's the one with the big arch cut
through the middle. It takes about six minutes to walk there
from South Station, five if you're coming from Aquarium.
(You'll have to cross a few busy streets on the way over,
especially if you're coming from South Station. Try to dress
appropriately for car-dodging. :)
From South Station:
(Try to leave the station via the Museum Wharf exit. As you come
out of the Red Line, you'll see signs for Summer St. and Dewey
Square. Go in the direction of Summer, but don't get out there.
Keep going---you'll pass over a little humped staircase, then you
should see the Museum Wharf exit. Get out there. You should
emerge next to the Federal Reserve tower.)
First get on Atlantic Ave. It's the road between the Federal
Reserve Bank and the Peter Pan bus terminal. Walk away from
South Station, between the Fed and the terminal, then keep going.
(You should be on the Fed side of the street. If not, walk
across, or duck back into South Station and find your way over.)
In about six minutes, you should reach Rowe's Wharf. It's kind
of ritzy: brick sidewalk, fake gold trimmings. The hotel should
be readily visible; it has an extra-long awning that says "Boston
Harbor Hotel" in raised gold lettering.
From Aquarium:
You should be on Atlantic Ave. when you leave the station. It's
the big road with the ugly, green overpass running along behind
it. Turn left and start walking towards downtown Boston. (That
is, in the direction where the skyscrapers get thicker. :) Don't
cross the road, though. You should be walking along the side of
Atlantic on the same side as the T station.)
In about five minutes, you should reach Rowe's Wharf. It's kind
of ritzy: brick sidewalk, fake gold trimmings. The hotel should
be readily visible; it has an extra-long awning that says "Boston
Harbor Hotel" in raised gold lettering.
YiLFS,
Harry
