Well, at this moment in time the Red Cross says that the donor center in
Burlington is open today. If you want to check later in the day, the
phone number for the ARC Blood Services office is 1-800-258-0025.
The weather report says there will be snow and or freezing rain for
another 4-5 hours.
Use your best judgement as to whether it is reasonable for you to go.
Don't do it if you think it is unsafe for you to travel to Burlington. I
am not sure what I will be doing because that will depend on the person
who was going to drive me decides.
If people can make it to donate, the Red Cross would really appreciate
it. This kind of weather creates a duel strain on blood resources --
fewer people donate and the number of emergencies where blood is needed
goes up. This is especially a problem coming on the heels of the holiday
season when traditionally many areas experience blood shortages. You may
want to donate later in the week if you can't do it tonight even thought
that would mean not being eligible to donate at the next FTOEONMBD&DT.
You can get information about blood collection sites and times at the
phone number above.
Call me if you have any questions.
