Come one, come all to the Jamaica Plain Wake Up the Earth festival! I'm
looking for some volunteers who are willing to help out with recycling
efforts while enjoying music, skits, drumming and general festival fare.
This project is fairly low-key...we'll just be aiding in recycling
efforts..after all, what good is an environmental effort if everything ends
up in the trash! There should be plenty of time to enjoy the festival as
well, especially if lots of people come. Here's what we'll be doing:

-monitoring a trash/recycling station and talking with festival goers
about where to put cans & bottles,
- collecting unwanted papers (most of them just received from an info
both) and returning them to the appropriate people
- collecting recycling as the bins fill up
- communicating with vendors about what to do with their cardboard/
helping them flatten it
- gathering recyclables at the end of the festival (you get to use a
little red wagon)
- enjoying the great music, skits, drumming and festival fare!

We need volunteers from approximately 10-6:30, so we'll be meeting in the
office at 9, and taking the T to the Stonybrook stop. Please email me
(mlamy@mit.edu) if you want to enjoy this festival! Also, we'll need the
most people after about 3 or so, so if you have something going on earlier
in the day (not being able to wake up at 9am doesn't count), I'd love to
see you there in the afternoon.

YiFLS,
Martine
