Minutes of ExecComm, April 25, 2001
Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start: 7:40 pm; End: 8:35 pm Present: Laura D, Ian, Oliver, Lael, Ray,
(and later) Lokie, Sam, Ellen.
Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Eric): not present 1. Project on May 5th, yeah. Martine and
Benazeer PCing. 2. Soft Cute Adorable Bunnies are The Evil
Spawn of Satan. 3. ServComm Retrospective Praise/Criticism/Questions
Dinner/Meeting this friday at 5:30 pm to leave for an unknown
resturaunt-type destination.
MVP (Sam): PCR and PTR are this Sunday at 6pm. Interviews are
happening this week. PCR is in 5-216, and PTR is in the office
with Yale. Both meetings will feature pizza, so tell me what you
want, and how much. Initiation? Oh, May 18, with I-Banquet.
FVP (Lael): Hi. Steak Fry happened. It was fun; I was auctioned.
We'll have a study break right before the next ham radio test.
[ed. note: much confusion about "garlic bread, project linus,
and ham" study break... note that lokie is not yet present.]
I need an I-Banquet PC; I'll look for one. Similarly, we have a
couch destruction and BBQ planned for Sunday afternoon, May 13.
I'll find a PC for that too.
Treasurer (Ray): I sent debt list announcements, even for people
with zero debt.
AC (Laura): I did some last-minute room reservations for people.
I'll try to do backlogged minutes soon. Do people read minutes
when they're posted in the office? [agreement that they should
be posted anyway]
APOcEd (Lokie): There are APOcs in the office; pick them up and check
your name off on the list taped to the box. The next deadline
is this Friday; submit! (In particular, submit candidate articles.)
OM (Antonio): not present
PubDir (Katherine): not present [Ian, as requested, makes up a report
about happiness with people who've dealt with drop poster.]
Historian (Oliver): There are lots of photos being developed right now.
Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): I made it here.
President (Ian): SAC meets at 9:15pm tomorrow. See me for the URL.
Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ListComm: We may create and use the apo-discuss list.
CPPC Review: Lael: It would be clever to have PCs for big known-
date events at the beginning of term. The current method is like
playing chicken.
Ian: Yeah, that would have been a good plan for the "be sure to know
all these things by a week ahead of the event" goal. [ed. note:
these things are time, location, and PC.]
Laura: [something... you'd think i'd remember. I think it was some-
thing about how having a PC well in advance can help with
getting the other details nailed down.]
It is noted that the SVP may not know he's supposed to be writing a
policy about chapter skills, and also that this is a vague goal.
Oliver: I think that in several cases, the responsible people may not
have known.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
End-of-term Planning: Ian: Do we want an Afterfinals? [general
agreement on yes] Ellen: I think Susama was looking into a
possibility, but I don't know what she found, nor whether she
had interest in PCing it.
Ian: Cluedumps are good. Be sure to start passing clue on to your
successor, as soon as you know who that person is.
Ellen: Ride Board! The end of term is a time when people might use
it. Ian: I put some info about it on the web page. I think
Katherine is willing to poster, if posters are made.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ordering stuff from national: Sam: We should order 50 pledge
pins and 50 service pins. This is money that the chapter does
get back eventually, in fees. Ian: Also, should we order DSKs?
[we end up agreeing to get pins, but hold off on more DSKs.]
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam: PCR and PTR, this Sunday.
Lokie: In the office, you will find scrap material, and starts of blankets.
Make blankets! It'll take some time, so hang out in the office,
talk, and sew.
PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Lael: You can dance if you want to, you can leave your friends behind.
Ellen: You people need sleep.
Oliver: This sphere is imperfect.
Ray: The housing office can bite me. I'm number 112 on the waitlist
for summer housing in EC.
Ian: Are early returns due May 1? I think so.
Laura: When are elections? Oh, May 2? Then that's the day before
we know who the MVP is...
