INTRODUCTION
The fall is bursting with service opportunities. Its a good time to
cool down and think about fitting some service into your life. Let me
know if AXAA can be of assistance.
The especially observant may have noticed that 9/2 was not a Tuesday.
The real date of the blood drive is 9/7 and that's next week so eat
those steaks.
I have received 8 Big Uncle volunteers and I have decided to go ahead
with the program. This will be a continuing program so feel free to
sign-up at anytime. If you have volunteered I will be getting back to
you with more information as things progress. If you haven't a clue
what I'm talking about check page 2 of Agents, Plots and Offers or
give me a call at 648-4014.

Those donating should arrive 6-6:45 pm at the Burlington Bloodmobile

is convenient for you.

starts off a busy week or two for the chapter. If you were thinking

Saturday 9/25 *SERVICE* PMD
Cleanup Day at empty lot on Kenilworth Street, Roxbury, MA.
Picking up trash, raking leaves, and planting bulbs. 9:30 AM to 5:30
PM. PMD is working with the Conte Center's executive director, Thelma
Barros, to plan a great project with ambitious urban garden designs.
The Silvio O. Conte Center, which has successfully developed
community wide programs in housing, education, job training, shelter
placement, urban gardening and landscaping, and youth development,
seeks to harness the energy of people in its community to develop
that community to their own benefit. To achieve this, the Center seeks to
foster self esteem in its clientele, especially young people, by
educating them in their cultural heritage and giving them the
opportunity to improve their neighborhood environment. Vacant lot
cleanups offer concrete evidence of the advantages of productive
labor and the difference people can make in the world around them.
PMD volunteers will be working along side many community members,
adults and young people alike. We need *your help* tackling this
really challenging project, so **please recruit your friends** to
join (you and) us on PMD's first fall service project.
To participate: Sign-up before 9/12 by calling 617-426-1343 or
sending e-mail to <LORI@pmd.org>. (rain date 10/2)

Saturday 10/2 *SERVICE* AXAA Beaver Day
Yes its BEAVER DAY at the YMCA! Jonah, the YMCA contact person, said
we had done such a great job last year with 15 people attending that I
just couldn't refuse. The project will run 10:30 to 2:00 with lunch
provided at 2:00. Directions will be available later. It would be
polite to RSVP for this so they will know how much lunch to cook, but
I think a few drop-ins would be ok. This project could benefit for
the care of a loving PC. To volunteer or RSVP call me at
(617)648-4014 or Cline17@aol.com.

Saturday 10/23 *SERVICE* City Year Servathon.
It actually happens this date.

Saturday-Sunday 11/20-1 *SERVICE* ESP - Splash
Splash is a weekend event held by the Educational Studies Program at
MIT. Volunteers are needed to teach 7 th - 12th graders just about
anything you would like to teach them. Classes can range from 1 to 12
hours in length and subjects range from tap dancing, to nuclear
technology, to the history of religion. But preparation is the key to
a good course so plan ahead and contact Dale Worley at
drw@math.mit.edu or (617)899-7947 or ESP at edsp@athena.mit.edu or
(617)253-4882.
