I did try the building access thing when I got my card; said I needed access
to campus to drive for APO service projects. I did get a card that opened
the med center door, but it only did so for the first semester. I think you
have to reapply at regular intervals to retain the privilege, which tends to
be more tedious than batting my eyelashes at the first grad. student to walk
by the door...
