Just a reminder that there is a blood drive this week.
Because this is the beginning of a new academic year, and because
there are so many new poeple on campus, we'd like to encourage
everyone to come doneate blood. However, we'd especially like to see
people who've never donated blood before, or are new to the MIT
community. If you're planning to donate blood please consider
bringing a friend along, especially if they haven't donated before.

Let me start off by thanking everyone who came to donate blood at our
drive in July. On behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving
lives.
The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT Wednesday, 10/11
through Friday, 10/13 in La Sala on the second floor of the Student
Center (W20). The drive will run from 2PM until 8PM on Wednesday and
11AM to 5PM on Thursday and Friday. By giving blood or by
volunteering your time at the blood drive, you can help save lives.
The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To
make an appointment, fill out the form at:
http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/
If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.
We are hoping to have more MIT people helping out during this drive
that we have had for many recent drives. This will help people get
registered more quickly, and take some of the pressure off of the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. All these efforts are
important to the drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
<bd-volunteers-request@mit.edu>
