Let me start off by thanking everyone who came to donate blood at our
drive in February. We collected almost 300 pints of blood. On behalf
of the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives.

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT Monday 5/1 through
Wednesday 5/3 in La Sala on the second floor of the Student Center
(W20). On Monday, the drive will run from 2PM until 8PM.* On Tuesday
and Wednesday, the drive will run from 11AM until 5PM. By giving
blood or by volunteering your time at the blood drive, you can help
save lives.

* Note the late hours. We know a number of people have asked for
them, and when we can get space to run the drive in the evening we
will do so for at least part of the drive.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To
make an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We are hoping to have more MIT people helping out during this drive
that we have had for many recent drives. This will help people get
registered more quickly, and take some of the pressure off of the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. All these efforts are
important to the drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
<bd-volunteers-request@mit.edu>
