Section 96 Advisory Council Guidelines
As discussed by the section advisory council during meetings occurring
between February 5th, 2000 and today
Chapters in participation: UMASS, WPI, MIT, BU, UCONN
Purpose: The purpose of the section 96 advisory council (SAC) is to foster
communication, participation and growth of the section in a number of
ways. The goal is to develop communication within the section by
discussion, sectional service projects, and sectional fellowship events,
as well as to work with the section chair to help increase support at the
sectional level. (This includes planning the summer picnic, sectional
service projects, and SAC meetings.)
Leadership-
The SAC will be led by the Section Advisory Council Chair. This position
will be filled by an election held at the spring SAC meeting. The SAC
Chair will serve a term of one year, spring conclave to spring conclave
and be the contact person for the council. Their responsibilities include
presence at all meetings, keeping chapters informed of meetings and
events, overseeing planning of sac events, insuring that minutes are taken
and distributed appropriately, and keeping in contact with the chair.
Interested parties will submit letters of intent to the council at least
___ weeks before the election meeting. Nominations will also be accepted
from council members.
Representation:
Each chapter will be expected to have representation to the SAC. Each
chapter may have a minimum of one representative and no matter how many
representatives, each chapter will have ONE vote. How each chapter
determines it's representation is entirely up to them.
All voting will take place during in person meetings only. Quarum will be
the number of chapters represented at any given meeting. Topics to be
voted on will be presented to the council during an online meeting so that
members can discuss the topics before voting. In the event of a tie on any
issue, the Section Chair will cast the deciding vote.
Meetings
The SAC will meet in person at least once per semester in addition to
Conclave. The SAC will also hold online meetings on a regularly scheduled
basis to be determined at the beginning of each academic semester at a
minimum of once a month.
