Minutes of Chapter Meeting, March 14, 2000

Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start:  7:37 pm;  End:  7:58 pm Present:  Carolyn,  Stephanie Fried,
Lokie, Davidmac, Merry, Alan, Ari, Sam, Aaron, Nitin, Eric Jonas,
Ann Marie, Emily, Carolyn, Ian, Yevgeniya, Sara P.
Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Sam): I am unhappy to report that except for Chapter Weekend
       II and Big Screw, the service program does not exist. When
       Spring Break comes and the hosage ends, I'll need volunteers (I
       already got Eric D. and Emily) to help. If you're interested in
       helping with the service program, find me. I talked to Celine
       Mestel, the head PC for CWII, and we need sub-PC's (pledges).
       I poked David about Big Screw. [AC: Contents of poke-induced
       message down in Committee Reports]

MVP (Ann Marie): We still have pledges_lots of pledges. Since at
       this point it looks like it'll be hard to get all the service require-
       ments done by the end of the term, we'll probably move back
       Initiation and PCR by two weeks. More details will come later.
       It will give a little bit more time to get things done. More infor-
       mation about the Big/Little Study Break will [be announced]
       later this meeting.

FVP (Joe): (not present, channelled by Carolyn): Sign up for PC-
       ships on the Random Acts of Fellowship Board. Fellowship is
       good. There are suggestions for dates and ideas on the boards;
       pick some to PC. [Since there are lots and lots of them,] they
       won't all happen.

Treasurer (Oscar): not present

AC (Ian): Earthlings are superior. Martians suck. pi-day is today.
       Tomorrow is the Ides of March.

APOcEd (Nitin): It's a bit slow, but the second issue will be out by
       the end of this week.

OM (David): We have an office. Before SFF I bought $40 worth
       of tape. We now have a lot of tape and also some Post-itsTM .
       People should keep writing on the list [of things the OM should
       procure for the office].

PubDir (Lokie): We have paints and paper. I need to deal with the
       sign in the Infinite Corridor. It fell down on me earlier.

Historian (Jake): not present

Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): not present due to illness.

President (Carolyn): I finally talked to Nationals to get shingles
       [certificates] for those without them. I'm currently working on
       convincing them that I'm not a pledge. Hopefully it'll all be
       sorted out soon. They also claim we have no community advi-
       sors. We have pins again. Conclave is good.

Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Big Screw (Davidmac):  I asked Publicity to do publicity.  It will
       happen really soon now. We have nominations, Yevgeniya sent
       out e-mail. The Treasury PC is here, but there's no money yet.
       Manpower PC is somewhere.
Conclave (Emily): We'll finish the bid proposal over Spring Break.
       We have a meeting after this.
Book  Ex  (Emily):  Book Ex is over, and the books are gone ex-
       cept for the ones in the office.  They'll be gone soon.  If any-
       one comes in with any questions or complaints, direct them to
       book-exchange@mit.edu, Carolyn, Oscar, or me.
Coke (Emily): I will buy more Coke soon.
Rules (Ari): Since there was a total lack of interest in the Junior/Senior
       Officer issues (except from the alums), we will officially consider
       this matter dead until someone brings it back up.
Old Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
None!

New Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
President (Carolyn): We need to elect two voting delegates and one
       alternate for Conclave. Pledges can be delegates as well.
Chapter: [AC: Something to the effect of "Yo, Prez, we voted," except
       totally different and unrelated. ;)]
President (Carolyn): The delegates are Carolyn and Emily, with Ari
       being the alternate.
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eric J.: The Big/Little Study Break is tomorrow at 7 pm in the office.
       It'll be wonderful. There'll be free food. We'll make a big/little
       genealogy tree. Well, it'll be more like a shrubbery. I encourage
       everyone to come.

MVP (Ann Marie): [referring to the Big/Little Study Break] Nick
       says "Be there or be middle-sized."

Foley: (channelled by Carolyn): There's a Games, Cookies, and Moms
       night Friday night of spring break. Be there. My [real] mom will
       be there.

PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Carolyn:  I'd like to wish Merry and Lokie happy birthday.  Merry's
       birthday is Thursday, and Lokie's is next Tuesday.
Meredith:  Today's pi-day [etc].  This week'll be fun, except for the
       midterm.
David: Today's pi-day. We have pi food.
Carolyn: Thursday the 16th is St. Urho's Day in Finland.  He drove
       out the grasshoppers.
Ian: Just to annoy everybody: 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971
Emily: This is not whatever that state is [where pi = 3].
