Hello,

I wanted to remind everyone that there is a blood drive at MIT this
Monday and Tuesday.

I also wanted to let everyone know that we're hosting a bone marrow
registration drive with the blood drive. While the blood drive will run
from 8am-6pm, the bone marrow registration drive will only run from
10am-5pm. Bone marrow registration is very easy (cheek swab and a
little paperwork), and you know need to register once. The bone marrow
registration drive is being run through DKMS and is co sponsored by MIT
ARCTAN and MIT CSC.

Hello,

Please allow me to begin by thanking everyone who took the time to
donate or volunteer at our September drive. We collected 229 units of
blood. On behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives.

As the holiday season approaches, we are all busy, but please take the
time to donate anyway. While we only have a two day drive, we have two
long days, and the Red Cross has expressed an urgent need for all blood
types. Please help a family celebrate the holidays together by
donating.

The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To make
an appointment, fill out the form at:

	http://web.mit.edu/blood-drive/www/

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.

We can always use more volunteers to help out during the drive to get
people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off the Red
Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're encouraged to
donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. No previous experience is
necessary to volunteer. All these efforts are important to the
drive's success. To volunteer, send e-mail to
blood-drive-coordinators@mit.edu, and someone will reply to you
shortly before the drive starts.

Blood Donation Factoids:

  * Meat, fish, sunflower seeds, and dark-green leafy vegetables are
all high in iron, and can be eaten on a regular basis to raise
    your blood-iron level.

  * Each blood donation may help save the life of up to three people.

If you want to forward this message, feel free as long as you are
sending it to a friend, or to a list for which it is appropriate. In
other words, feel free to forward, but please don't spam people on our
behalf. If anyone wants to get on our mailing list they can check the
appropriate box when making an appointment, or fill out the form at
