Hello brothers!
This is a long email, but you should read all of it, for tonight, we have
created a service project!
Over the next two weeks, we will be running a series of projects to raise
money and goods for the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. They're going to be
awesome, and you should help out! (There will be a number of emails coming
soon about different ways to help; this is the overarching
everything-that's-going-on email.) If you're interested in knowing more
about what's going on or helping out you should add yourself to
apo-hurricane, and we're also still looking for a dedicated publicity
sub-PC.
We'll be meeting at 5pm this Wednesday in the APOffice to go over
everything.
If you can't devote much time or can't help out in person (*cough*
*alums**cough*), there are still two ways to help out: submit t-shirt
designs or
photos. (More info about each of those are below). There will also be
projects this weekend to prepare for the week (silkscreening and baking)
and we'll need to staff a booth in Lobby 10 this Friday and next Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday. (A booth chmrr should be coming soon.)
All four of those days, we'll be accepting donations -- money for the Red
Cross, as well as canned goods and other items for a yet-to-be-determined
charity. In addition:
--on Friday, people will be voting on what shirt design we should make.
Everyone will be able to vote, and if you donate money or an item your vote
will count more. *lizrita* is in charge of this, so email her designs!
(over the weekend, shirts will be silkscreened and baking will be done)
--on Tuesday, we'll hold a bake sale. *ermain* is in charge of this.
--on Wednesday, there will be a photography competition. The idea is to get
photographs of affected areas -- for example, Ellen might send in a picture
from her sister in Long Island, and I'll submit one from my parents' home
in North Carolina -- and people will vote with money, like for UMOC or Big
Screw; all money raised from this day will go to relief efforts in that
area. *emify* is in charge of this, so email her pictures! (please only
send images that you have permission to use, from a friend or family member)
--we're tentatively trying to run an a capella concert with a few songs
from each of a lot of a capella groups on Thursday or Friday, with proceeds
being donated. *rodriga1* will be in charge of this; whether it actually
happens is dependent on whether we get enough a capella groups interested.
--*mgavrin* is the overall PC, and as mentioned, please add yourself to
apo-hurricane to get more involved!
YiLFS,
Rachel
