Want to teach a *skill* to a bunch of boys?
Think the *Boy Scouts* are pretty cool?
Were/Are a Boy Scout and want to *give back*?
Like to plan *logistics*?
Email me / add yourself to the list: *apo-mbu*!
(that's MBU for "merit badge university")
Here's the deets:
We've received *$150* to host a Merit Badge University next term (before
Nov.15).
*What's a Merit Badge University*? It's a day-long extravaganza where Boy
Scouts run around and attend 2 or 3 workshops, after each of which they earn
a Merit Badge! Merit badges are usually useful skills (knot-tying, first
aid, etc).
We need folks to:
- help *plan* logistics
- help *advertise* to local troops
- *teach* a merit badge skill (you'd have to become a Merit Badge Counselor,
but this is not difficult)
- *volunteer* on the day of the event to put up signs, herd boys around,
prevent chaos, etc
- help out with *aftermath* (mailing paperwork, e.g.)
You can blanche yourself onto apo-mbu if you want to stay in the
loop/generally help out.
Let me and Xavier know if you are interested in *taking on a bigger role* in
the preparations.
Below is the link to the google doc I started today. The link will allow to
