>President: ederegt
I went to membership summit. it was fun. I was the only one there, but I met
lots of brothers.
Next week brothers from UNH will be visiting at 6pm and they'll talk about
Conclave, which they're hosting. There will be dinner in the office.
There's a Rulescomm meeting possibly next Friday to go over the Bylaws
changes Rulescomm came up with before and make them ready to present to the
chapter.
We're looking for a new Coke chair. They stock up the Coke fridge with soda
and candy. If you're interested, talk to Liz.
>SVP: latfah
Not here.
Others channeling Latifah: HMMT is Saturday; talk to Alec if you want to
join other people from APO there! City Year is a week from Saturday (the
27th),
9:30-; it still needs a PC. There is one more spot on the Habitat for
Humanity trip on March 6; talk to Latifah if you want to go. Spark is March
13th.
>PVP: slehmann
-We have 3 new pledges!! Congrats to oremanj, shawest, and scottl!!
-Rush week was a success overall-we have some bugs to get worked out but I
am willing to give it another go next term with some readjustments
-We had a lot of prospectives on projects
-Bigs are going to meet after Chapter Meeting
-We may or may not need more bigs depending on how many pledges show up on
Sunday.
-Big/Little will be on *Friday, February 26* (note to you: could you change
this in the wuapo)
-It is currently on Thursday, but that is pushing it for me to get
Bigs assigned
-It will be at 7:30pm
-We have our second pledge ceremony on *Sunday, February 21*
-Be in 4-265 by *2:00* for set up!
-Bring pledges!! The actual ceremony is 2:30.
>FVP: kkuhn
Rush week was fun. MGNTGTM was awesome, we watched and played Goldeneye. Wed
at 3:10 there will be games in the office every week! There will be a
Fellowship
Committee meeting 9pm Thurs in the office to discuss fellowship events for
this semester. If you have ideas but can't make it to the meeting, email
Kristin
about it. There's a signup for cooking food for the chapter meetings. You
should sign up!
>Treasurer: viccro
Dues for all active brothers are $35. NIBs pay $16. You should put it in the
dropsafe in an envelope labeled with your name on it. If you want to debt
list
your dues, email Vicki back by Friday.
The budget will be emailed out.
>AC: rkw
As always, if you need a room reserved for anything, talk to me in advance.
If you want something on the WUAPO, tell me what, where, when, and who's in
charge of it.
>PubDir: austein
There's been publicity, mostly in the form of e-mail, the service group
fair, and talking to individual people. Posters will/would be cool when
there's a
budget. Also been working on making more things on the web and in the PSC's
weekly bulletin to the campus. Please try to wear an APO shirt to projects
and
in general. If you're doing a project on campus, bring the box of arm bands
for anybody who doesn't have one. If you're running a project which
produces
things, please consider putting somewhere on the finished product that it
was put together by us to help get the word out. Other ideas? Let me know.
>ApocEd:
I will hopefully have an APOC sometime next week. You should submit
articles/quotes/reports to me. If you're doing a project report, you should
write it not
Q&A or just accept that I'll change it slightly to make it look better in
print.
>OM:
The office is no longer frigid.
The clock in the back office is broken so I will be getting a new one.
Tissues exist, (in blue and gold boxes).
Apparently we need bowls, so I'll get some. There's a list on the fridge of
things the office needs; if you think we need something, write it up.
The doorknob is broken. We'll ask CAC about it.
>Historian: wings
no report
>Advisor: ccrazy
Not here.
>BookEx: slehmann channeling viccro
We've been getting lots of emails about checks. SAFO has been backed up, so
we don't have them yet. We've figured out how to send emails to everyone
that
needs to be emailed; that will go out soon.
Pickup will be next week in the office 12-6pm. Sign up on the chmrr! (once
it gets created)
>>Rush
Liz% asked people to think about rush and have something to say at the
meeting.
catherio: Rush was hosing, but worthwhile. The recruitment dinner in
particular mdae me feel all warm and fuzzy about the future of Alpha Chi.
Even the
miscommunication of the Bikes Not Bombs project, which I had to PC at the
last minute and nearly didn't happen at all, was tempered by the fact that
all of
us, including the prospective who was there, had a great time. For the
future, I know I could improve by not overestimating much time I can commit
in a given
week, and I think as a chapter we should strive to better predict whether
projects will have enough manpower much further in advance.
ederegt: The main thing we could improve is that we all thought we had more
time and overcomitted and took on too many projects. It was really fun.
wings: I think knowing things farther in advance would be helpful, because
then I wouldn't have scheduled things over APO events.
kdrinkwa: I wasn't involved that much. I would have liked ot be there more.
oremanj: I came to bikes not bombs, I was the prospective who had a good
time. I was really impressed by how much the people in APO made things that
might
sound boring by the description really fun to do. I only came to BnB and
recruitment dinner. I agree that we could tone down the number of events to
be more
managable.
shawest: It was fun. I guess it worked, because I pledged. It was really
cool how people poked me to come to projects, because otherwise I would have
been
too lame to look up projects on my own and come to them.
slehmann: *shows photos of past pledge ceremonies* Last term there was a
pledge ceremony with 3 pledges and 4 brothers. The most recent one had lots
of
brothers: that's what a pledge ceremony would look like. This was possibly
the most successful part of rush week. You should all make this happen at
the next
pledge ceremony!
Joanie: I couldn't come to events because of my work schedule, but looking
from outside I was really impressed by how much you were doing during rush
week
and how much you put in. I'm really excited that you did that.
paulaj: I liked the tree pruning thing and the movie. I wish more people
were here for Black Morbid, but oh well. We had a lot of fun.
ahailes: I overcommitted myself. I was busy most nights and away over the
weekend. In the future I will plan better and have more free time. What I
did go to
was awesome.
kkuhn: Prepping was stressful, but rush week itself was fun though
stressful. I'm excited by the idea of a rush committee, i.e. a rush chair
and a few people
helping with administrative stuff. It's definitely an awesome thing to
continue, but should be tweaked a bit.
adehnert: I basically ignored APO for a month or two. It was very relaxing.
nteague: Goldeneye is a hilarious movie.
rkw: I was really stressed the week leading up to Rush because of issues
reserving rooms and basically didn't want to have anything to do with rush
when it
started. I did go on two of the service projects, the Lego Chemistry kits
and CRC, and those were really great.
jaxxson: I thought rush week was fun. I mostly had a plan for whcih events I
would and wouldn't attend ahead of time and so as far as getting to the
events,
I thought they were at fine times, I just picked and chose which to go to.
MGTGTM was a lot of fun. We may do Clue again in the fall, it's a good
Halloween
event.
latifah: I made it to some of the events. Between UROP nad chamber music my
schedule got turned upside down. I didn't put myself down on the chmrr, but
when
people called me and I had free time I went to some parts of projects.
austein: I was quite happy to go to the recruitment dinner and try and
figure out what service they'd be interested in and then poke them about it
and
upcoming events. it was neat to get responses to see people and get them to
show up to things. Classes were disappointing in conflicting with events.
Fiona: Tree pruning was fun. I just showed up randomly on the very last day
and people were very responsive and encouraging.
If you say you can go on a project, don't cancel without letting the PC
know. It makes it very difficult when people don't show up to things when
other
people think they are. We had some issues with running events, as well as
having to close BookEx for 1.5 hours because no one was there. Poking people
in
effective - we called people during rush and lots of them showed up for
events they hadn't signed up for.
>>Publicity
If you're PVP/SVP/FVP, you should write events on the board in the office.
Question: if there were a chance to get rid of our static paper bulletin
board on the infinite and instead have a large LCD screen in the space that
had info
about APO in rotation with a couple other groups, would people want that?
Answers: It depends on the other groups, maybe if it were a larger
partitioned screen. Flipping through images might not work well along the
side of the
infinite. The advantage of being able to update it would be nice. The
general feeling is if it were partitioned and we had complete control over
what was put
on our section, it would be nice.
>>Budget
Vicki's in class and hasn't emailed it out yet. Liz%20 will email out the
budget and we will approve it at the next chapter meeting.
PFTGOTO:
Yoga is awesome!
You can still apply to FUP! Deadline is the 25th.
There's a party at Matt's house on Saturday, you're all welcome! Ask him if
you need directions.
People should come play games next Wednesday.
Things that are not the same: Caramel Delites and Samoas.
