HMMT! You love it! You want to go help out! I hear there's an amazing guts
round. Crazy grading + cool friends + math = awesome
It's next Saturday (Feb 20), and it is being hosted at Harvard this year. To
get there in time for the cool guts round, we'll aim to go from 1.30-5,
including travelling time. You don't even have to wake up early!
If you feel like going as part of the APO group, email me back. If you want
to be the PC, tell me that too. It's super easy. You pretty much just need
to know how to get to Harvard.
Also, if you want to go earlier to help out more, feel free, but email me to
tell me anyway. The complete email from the HMMT directors is forwarded
below.
Volunteer! Be awesome!
yis,
latifah

Subject: Fwd: Help out at the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament!
To: Latifah Hamzah latifah@mit.edu
Hi everyone,
Every year, Harvard and MIT students put together a math competition
for high school students. This year, over 800 students from all over
the country (and even the world!) are coming to Cambridge to compete.
We've been working hard preparing for the competition, but we need
people to help out at the contest itself!
When: Saturday, February 20, 2010. We start registration at 8 am, and
the awards ceremony is scheduled to end at 5 pm. We don't need
everyone all day, though, so if you are free at all during the day,
please come by!
Duties: We need people to proctor team rounds, run registration, serve
food at lunchtime, direct people places, grade tests, enter scores in,
and staff our guts round event. If you have any questions, email
hmmt-request@mit.edu.
Where: This year's HMMT is held at Harvard.
If you're interested in helping out, even if just for a few hours,
please email hmmt-request@mit.edu with:
Your name
Your hours of availability
Anything in particular you'd like to help with
In addition, we need a few more male hosts for students. This entails
not too much work-- just letting a high school student stay on your
floor or futon or sofa or whatever for Friday and maybe Saturday
night. They'll be busy all day doing math on Saturday, so they
shouldn't be around much to bother you. If you could help with this,
that'd be awesome.
Thanks!
Winston Luo and Beth Schaffer, HMMT Tournament Directors
