Exec Meeting
October 28, 2009
Present: kkuhn, rkw, austein, latifah, ccrazy, nteague, epower,
slehmann, viccro, ederegt, sophical, adehnert

Officer Reports:

BVP: jaxxson
-Fellcomm met, event Friday (Clue!)
-New games in office!

PVP: ahailes
-There was a pledge meeting. aderegt was late.

AC: slehmann
-I've been working on getting the lobby 7 kiosks for UMOC. The contact
person is being unresponsive as of this writing. This is slightly
annoying. I have sent another e-mail. *UPDATE*-- We for sure have the
kiosks for the 13-15th...
-Listcomm is still twitching in the depths of my heart and has the
possibility of being resurrected if some interested parties give me
days/times that they can meet (and I'll work my schedule around them).

Treasurer: nteague
-"I don't have anything I want to tell the chapter about what I'm
doing."
-If anyone feels so inclined, fix the RFP latex file

Pubdir: ederegt
-I'm going to plan a time next week to do APO letter screening (I'll
fix the screen on my own sometime before then). When is best for
people? I really don't want to do it all alone, so if someone could
take a stand and lead the actual printing, I'd love it. It could be
like PCing something...

Apoc Ed: viccro
-Apoc at next meeting. Woo!
-You will be poked for writings!

OM: rkw
-clock

UMOC:
As you all know, UMOC is this coming November from the 16th to the 20th.

So far, a few emails have been sent out, but a concerted effort to
round up candidates / publicize UMOC hasn't been done. (This is pretty
much my job, and come hell or high water, almost everyone on campus
should have a preliminary message by the end of Saturday.)

Also, silkscreening knows about T-Shirts. The idea at present is the
MIT dragon, but anything involving a UMOC image/slogan would be good
as well.

Xavier volunteered to help with UMOC manpower, but it seems a bit far
in advance to worry about right now. That said, APO, attempt to check
your schedule for the week of the 16th and free up some time to man
the booths in Lobby 10.

That said, here are some ideas/things that should be done for UMOC
other brothers could help with:

1) Chalking. Has this been done in the past? Do we need to contact
someone to get permission to do this?

2) Posters. A glance through the old UMOC folders indicated that there
was perhaps one (or two, at the most) poster design that appeared to
be black and white. If anyone artistic could help us design a new
image, it would be quite convenient.

3) Tech Publicity: I will be contacting a regular writer for the Tech
on November 1st to ask if we can get publicity for UMOC in both the
week of the competition and the week preceding so we can round up
candidates/spread the word. An archivist that I talked to yesterday
said she hadn't heard of UMOC in the 20+ years she's been here, which
isn't so comforting.

4) Trophy: The trophy is in complete limbo right now. If anyone is in
an art class, perhaps pottery, could we get someone to make something
completely hideous? I noticed there was a pottery room on the fourth
floor of the Student Center (i.e., where the APO office is)- we could
ask them for help.

5) Lobby 7 Pillars: Apparently, any student group can reserve the
triangular pillars in Lobby 7. We should do this for UMOC / the
preceding week if possible.

6) Logarhythms / Chorallaries / Insert-Music-Group-Here: According to
an old log about UMOC in the APO folders, one year the Chorallaries
happened to come by Lobby 10 and sing, which attracted a large group
of people. If we could do this even one of the days during UMOC, the
turnout would probably be fantastic.

***6) Website*** : I realized I hadn't heard talk of a UMOC website.
Has this been done in the past? Could it be done this year if it
hasn't? I don't have the skills to program a webpage, but someone in
APO must. I think we could significantly increase the money we raise
if we use a website, just because it's so easy / convenient. We could
probably just model it off the AXO homecoming fundraiser website that
ran the last few weeks.

Everything else is emailing, following regulations, and begging people
for money, so I think we're set for now.
