hi brothers

the a.r.t. needs stewards to guide people in the dark of
their production sleep no more

click on "sign up" on the right of
http://www.americanrepertorytheater.org/events/show/sleep-no-more
the minimum age for volunteering is 18

performances are every night except monday to 31 october.
(there is some chance the run will be extended)

it's a volunteer gig, takes about 3.5 hours,
plus some orientation before the first one.
stewards start @ 6:30pm.
the venue is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the
brookline village stop on the "D" Green Line
in brookline, ma

it's rare to see "theatre" this innovative in boston

beyond the warm glow of helping,
you get to see some behind the scenes,
and get to see the action from one or two locations

most of the stewards, provide help, guidance, and crowd control
in as silent mime-ish fashion as possible

you get to wear an awesome back mask,
and listen to the director solve problems on the walkie-talkie.

you don't get to interact with the actors much,
but the staff and crew are awesome

even if you can't afford it,
i also recommend buying a ticket,
and being audience

the a.r.t. has a student rush on day of performance
 http://www.americanrepertorytheater.org/tickets#student
an inexpensive student pass subscription
 http://www.americanrepertorytheater.org/tickets#passes
and for mit students, the council on the arts give you 50% off that
 http://web.mit.edu/arts/see/freetickets/index.html

i'm glad to have been on both sides of this one!
