Are you still looking for a PCship? Are you interested in helping with
APO's biggest project? Do you want to stick it to the COOP?
We want you!
Cat and I, your friendly co-chairs, are seeking people for the
following positions:
(detailed job descriptions at end of email)
- Apprentice Chair
- Web God
- Publicity*
- Finals Week During-the-Day Dropoff (12-2pm Weds 5/20 - Fri 5/22)
- Senior Week Dropoff (6/1-6/5 at your convenience)
- Manpower/Food
- Aftermath**
I'll be soliciting subPCs at tonight's chapter meeting, and I don't
want it to take forever because we also have elections, so you should
look over the job descriptions and think about which ones you're
interested in.

* If you're unhosed at the end of this term but you'll be hosed at the
beginning of next term, Catherio is willing to team up with you on
publicity.
** Nicole is probably going to do aftermath, but I want more people to
learn how to do it.

Detailed Job Descriptions
Apprentice Chair
- Learn how to be the overall chair next time!
- Assist chairs, gradually taking on more tasks as you learn how Bookex works
- Learn to take dropoff, sell books, answer customer questions
- Help chairs help/documentation in the locker
- Attend every part of bookex: end-of-prior-term dropoff,
beginning-of-next-term dropoff, setup, takedown, pickup, aftermath
(unless you are out of town)
- Don't have to be there all the time, but work enough hours to be
well-practiced
- Learn to handle edge cases: unusual customer requests, etc.
Web God
- Work with a competent team -- you will NOT have to handle this alone!
- Comfort with UNIX / command line absolutely necessary
- General programming experience highly recommended
- Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL knowledge good but not strictly necessary
- Become familiar with the Bookex backend
- ... starting with the parts that are most likely cause trouble during Dropoff
- Help out with technical issues during Dropoff (you will have lots of help)
- Work with the team on revamping the website over the summer
- Be "on call" for technical issues during sale (again, lots of help)
Publicity
- Advertise each piece of Dropoff
- Advertise sale
- If desired, get help from Brown (pantsful publicity subPC from F08)
- ...also, get people to help you photocopy/poster, so you aren't hosed
- Postering, spam emails (definitely)
- Chalking, Infinite Corridor slideshow slide, drop poster, ad in the
Tech (possibly)
- Think about how to advertise to grad students not on dorm lists --
we haven't done much business with them in the past, but we could
Finals Week During-the-Day Dropoff
(similar to Finals Coffeehouse Dropoff)
- Learn to take dropoff well enough to teach others / handle unusual cases
- Be mostly available during dropoff hours (having few finals is good)
- Get ink for the HP Deskjet (our portable USB printer)
- Bring printer and dropoff materials to and from office (or get
someone to do it)
Senior Week Dropoff
- Hold dropoff hours 6/1 - 6/5
- Scheduled at your convenience
Manpower / Food
- Make chmrr sites for dropoff, sale, and pickup hours
- Ensure people sign up on them
- Bring snacks/food to setup and takedown
- Optional: bring food to sale
Aftermath
- Help with pickup of unsold books
- Make sure charity books get packed up and shipped
