It's Wednesday night, and you know there's a chapter meeting, and you know
you kind of want to go, because you love your brothers and you want to know
what's going on in the chapter and you're excited about these upcoming
service projects. But it's cold outside. Thinking about the trek to W20
demoralizes you. Besides, there's an aching emptiness in your belly that is
not quite filled by the warmth of brotherhood. Oh yeah, that's hunger.
Because you haven't eaten since... well... So you look in your
refrigerator, past someone else's crust leftovers from last week, and you
think about all the effort it will take to make food.
Suddenly, a light of revelation dawns on you as you remember that sometimes
there is food at chapter meetings. But how can you be sure? You look
through your inbox and find THIS email. THIS email that says:
There WILL be hot, delicious chili (vegetarian and meat) at the chapter
meeting this Wednesday. Steaming chili that melts down your throat and
drives the cold from your bones and fills the void within you. You can
almost smell it, just thinking about it...
And with the chili, there will be tossed green salad. And not just any
salad. Salad done right. Vibrant mixed greens that make you think of
spring, and peaking from beneath those leaves, tantalizing fruits and nuts
and soft cheese. All with a dainty vinegrette.
Come to the chapter meeting. There will be food.
